day one - WORD OF MOUTH WALES
Sailors with guitars
The taste of Wales enclosed in a pinching that recalls the ancient knights of the round table.
As soon as I listened to the Word of Mouth I was catapulted in a quiet and isolated world. Listening to their songs I had the feeling that the real protagonist of their songs is actually the sea in the background and they are sailors who through their guitars give a voice, a little kinder, to a sea that is always so rough like the Irish sea. Their unique sound took me through a very personal journey that I hope you can do simply by listening. Word of mouth website:

here's what they say about themselvesGrowing up listening to loud classical musical, I love the drama and emotion of Mahler, Elgar and Puccini from an early age. My music career started with an unremarkable performance, forgetting a piece mid flow at the Cheltenham Music Festival. I went on to attend music school but was thrown out before attaining greatness. Whilst there I obtained notoriety for blasting out the Godfather theme on the Wells Cathedral Organ and unnerving a building full of American tourists.
My early teenage focus then turned to rock bands like Free, Bad Company, Led Zep, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple. Not quite the path I was expected to follow. I would never have dreamt that I would later be in Jon Lord’s house listening to him play ‘Lazy’ on his piano. Forming Word of Mouth, the combination of two guitars is both interesting and rewarding. It has been my first opportunity to perform original material, and this sounds a whole lot better enhanced by Andy’s embellishments. Performing as a duo is brilliant but the added bonus for me is our plan to write collaboratively and spend more time in the recording studio. |
